Marianne Csáky

BIOGRAPHY

Marianne Csáky (1959 Budapest/Hungary) explores the impact of time on her memories. A large selection of her work draws on an archive of about 2500 photo negatives of her grandfather. She reworks the often idyllic-looking family memories of her childhood into a new reality by adding elements. In this way she places her contemporary self in the setting of her past and she enters into confrontation/ dialogue with herself. Another important theme is the search for the boundary between sexuality and pornography and offers her vision of the artistic concept of “nudity” versus “naked”.  For Savoir retenir et fixer ce qui est sublime she brings an overview of the most important themes in her oeuvre.
