Ilona Plaum
BIOGRAPHY
The photographic “mise-en-scene” of Ilona Plaum are two dimensional installation in which she challenges the “perspective” conventions. The Dutch artist uses and mixes concepts like ‘surface’ and ‘depth” and translates ‘background’ into ‘object’. In her picturesque photographic images she creates illusions, like shadows who seem to move and stand still at the same time, shadows who are omnipresent all time of day and seem to move. Her fascination for time and space is being shown through connecting in her pictures, through the photographic plain, the three dimensional scenery and the painted representation.
