Fia Cielen
BIOGRAFIE
Fia Cielen (Hasselt, 1978) vindt haar beeldtaal in het weergeven van gedaanteveranderingen. In tekeningen, prints, sculpturen en installaties integreert zij natuurlijke processen. Op die manier verbindt ze een element van toeval in het ontstaan van het werk dat zich aan haar controle onttrekt. Het motief van een kristal, de geometrische vorm die zich naar alle kanten vermenigvuldigt, verbindt de diverse media die ze in haar oeuvre toepast. Het komt terug in de tekeningen van maskerachtige creaturen, in de vertakkingen van de beelden, in de grote digitale prints… het lijkt wel een oer-deeltje te zijn van een artistieke kosmos, het element dat telkens zelf constant transformaties ondergaat en zo de schaduwzijde van het bestaan verkent, in een schemerzone tussen realiteit en verbeelding.
